Our Camp
At Pellow’s it’s not just about coming to fish. It’s about having an experience. And you will feel that from the moment you set foot onto our camp. We are a boat access only island on 7 acres of winding pathways, fields of wild flowers and ferns, and a wooded area with trails. We have magnificent views from every cabin of the Crown Game Preserve, the Sunset, the water and wildlife. Our island is the joining point of the Chapleau River to Chapleau Lake, Jackson Lake, Mulligans bay and the beginning of uninterrupted wilderness, rivers and lakes for miles.
Below are some of the Features & Experiences you will find at our camp.
Fish Cleaning Hut
Our Fish Cleaning Hut is simple in design with a work table, cutting blocks, and a waste disposal unit that grinds up the left over parts. It is a happening place and has naturally become a place where guests can meet and greet each other, trade some stories and share some laughs.
Shower Houses
We have two shower houses at camp, one on the North side and one on the South side with two showers at each location. Regardless of what cabin you are staying in, it will be a short refreshing walk with beautiful views along the way.
Library ~ Music Room
Our Library doubles as a Music Room and is filled with books, DVDs, games, and musical instruments for you to borrow and use while you are here. There is a table and chairs in the library for you to hang out in and it does have a magnificent view of Chapleau Lake. There is also Wi-Fi available in the Library.
Community Fires
On the south side of camp we have our community fire pit and last year we started hosting a weekly fire for guests to relax at and share stories.
On Wednesday night bring your drinks and stories and pull up a chair! This is Daryl’s favourite night as he loves hearing all of the stories about camp from the past and enjoys getting to know all of our guests. There will be hot dogs and marshmallows for roasting, a lot of jokes and stories and a lot of laughs.
Trails & Paths
On the West side of camp where the cabins are located, there are many paths and trails between the cabins and other camp features that are beautiful to walk along at any time of year. And on the entire Eastern side of the island which is wooded, there are beautiful trails for you to walk along surrounded by Nature in all of her beauty.
Sunset Meadow
This is a beautiful spot to sit and enjoy the sunset. There is a bench overlooking a meadow of wild flowers that is filled with dragonflies and butterflies that has a perfect view of the sunset all season long. Have a seat and breathe in the sounds of Nature.
Native Flute Sunset Serenades
There is nothing more magical than hearing a Native Flute being played while surrounded by Nature deep in Northern Ontario. Sara plays her flute all over the island and out on the water and last summer many guests heard her playing and commented on how much they enjoyed it. So this summer, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday evening in the hour before sunset, Sara will be playing her flute at the Sunset Meadow and you are welcome to bring a chair or pull up your boat and join her in giving thanks for the day.
